Lucifer is a comic book series written by Mike Carey and published by DC Comics under the Vertigo imprint, spinning off from the Sandman series. The story centers on Lucifer Morningstar, who since the events of Sandman's Season of Mists arc has given up his position as the ruler of Hell and settled down in Los Angeles as a club owner and piano player. When Lucifer happens upon a unique opportunity, he hatches a plan that might allow him to break free from his Father's designs once and for all.
Series
The Lucifer series consists of a 3-issue miniseries followed by a full 75-issue series, along with a standalone one-shot taking place in the middle of the main series but telling a largely self-contained story:
- The Sandman Presents: Lucifer, #1-3 (1999)
- Lucifer, #1-75 (2000-2006)
- Lucifer: Nirvana (2002)
Characters
- Lucifer Morningstar (Lead Mastermind): The fallen angel himself, now retired and living in LA, where he owns a piano bar. Prideful and possessing an unwavering will, Lucifer's only desire is to escape God's control.
- Mazikeen (Specialist): A demon and Lucifer's lover, who followed him out of Hell and now works as a waitress at his club. Mazikeen is also a skilled fighter and a master swordswoman.

- Journey into Mystery is a Marvel Comics series protagonized by the Norse god of lies Loki. Like Lucifer, it features mythological motifs and a trickster deity plotting against other gods.
